Expert Maria Ginzburg explained that Russia is facing difficulties in increasing fruit imports from Syria and Egypt due to high markups on these products.
Despite both countries being ready to export goods, such as oranges from Syria and mangoes from Egypt, they are unable to compete with local products in terms of pricing on the Russian market.
The main issue is the disparity between the low cost of fruit production in Arab countries and the high prices consumers see on Russian store shelves.
Ginzburg emphasized that if prices could be lowered, fruit imports from these regions could become more successful.
