This year overall was a good season for the Argentina's pear exports, says Santiago Lyons, Commercial Director of Fruit World. "Regarding volume and quality, it was an exceptional season for all export companies in Argentina, with 6% more volume versus 2023."
"For the 2025 season we expect a high demand in North America for Argentina pears, since their reports show Green Anjou and Green Bartlett are down 26% and 18% respectively. This will make European demand surge as well, since the Conference pear harvest is about 15% less. Italy's recovery of Abate is significant, but still did not reach their full potential, and will impact our exports in this variety. Regarding Williams in general, it is 30% above, but our fresh 2025 production should overlap perfectly. Fruit World will be present as from Week 5 in 2025 with their premium pears brand Don Elias to help with the shortages in Europe," explains Lyons.
He says it is still too early to talk about Argentina's coming pear crop. "It is too earl for the harvest, especially to talk about figures, but we expect a good season again with stable volumes as last season, with a nice clean fruit and larger sizes overall," states Lyon.
