Russian railways extends discounts for Uzbek and Tajik fresh produce exports until 2025

Russian Railways (RZD) has extended a series of discounts for the transport of fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan until 2025. The continuation of a 50% discount for refrigerated transport services for fresh produce, initially implemented in January 2021, has been confirmed. This measure is part of RZD's commitment to facilitating the growth of agricultural exports from Uzbekistan, a prominent fruit and vegetable supplier to the Russian market.

In addition to the half-price offer, a 20.4% discount on goods transported in refrigerated containers from the Selatino station in the Moscow region to the Sergeli and Jizzakh stations in Uzbekistan has been renewed. This particular discount is applicable for shipments traversing the Kanisay border station into Uzbekistan and, for the return journey, through the Ozinki station.

Uzbekistan's export of fruit and vegetable products to Russia, its largest market, underscores the significance of these discounts. From January to August 2024, exports amounted to 1.35 million tons, marking a 9% increase compared to the previous year, with a total value of $922.8 million. Following Russia, the largest shares of Uzbekistan's exports are distributed among Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
