UK potato sector gains unified representation with GB Potatoes joining Europatat

Europatat has recently incorporated GB Potatoes, a sectorial association from the UK, into its ranks. The formation of GB Potatoes came as a response to the dissolution of the AHDB potato levy board, which left the potato industry without a unified representation. Established in May 2022 by a consortium of potato growers, GB Potatoes aims to serve as a unified voice for the industry. The association is now open to all stakeholders within the potato supply chain, including but not limited to growers, packers, processors, and research organizations.

GB Potatoes is actively engaging in various projects to address sector-specific challenges. Among these initiatives are efforts to monitor chlorpropham (CIPC) residues in potato stores and strategies to combat Blight. The association's inclusive approach seeks to foster industry-wide collaboration to effectively tackle these and other issues facing the sector.
