J&C Tropicals announced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target as part of the company's long-term commitment to sustainability. Using 2023 as the baseline year, the company has pledged to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50 percent by the year 2030. In addition to Scope 1 and 2, the company will actively track, monitor, and reduce its Scope 3 emissions, which encompass emissions generated through its supply chain and other indirect sources.
As the GHG emissions reduction program continues, J&C Tropicals is committed to following best practices set by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), ensuring that its climate goals are aligned with global efforts to limit temperature rise to well below 2°C.

To kickstart the emission reduction initiatives, the company recently launched a composting program in collaboration with Compost for Life (compostforlifemiami.com) Through this partnership, the company's organic waste is transformed into nutrient-dense compost and directly connected to local farms, fostering a circular economy and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Compost for Life is recognized as a leader in composting and since October 2020 has successfully diverted more than 3,600,000 pounds of organic waste from landfills in South Florida.
