Kashmir valley fruit union optimistic about new chief minister

The Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Cum Dealers Union has formally acknowledged Omar Abdullah's assumption of the Chief Minister role in Jammu & Kashmir, looking forward to a renewed emphasis on the horticulture sector. Union Chairman Bashir Ahmad Basheer, in a statement, recalled Abdullah's impactful actions towards the fruit industry during his 2009-2014 leadership period. "We welcome Omar Sahab's return as Chief Minister with great hope. His previous tenure saw significant initiatives for fruit growers, and we are confident that under his leadership, the sector will receive the attention it deserves," Basheer remarked.

The Union underscored Abdullah's past support for horticulture, a critical component of Kashmir's rural economy, expressing optimism for the resolution of longstanding sectoral challenges under his governance. Basheer emphasized the need for targeted efforts to bridge infrastructure gaps, enhance market access, and foster industry modernization. Additionally, the statement conveyed confidence in Abdullah's capacity to address the horticulture sector's specific challenges, including adverse weather conditions, logistical hurdles, and market volatility.
