Kandahar exports over 9,500 tons of onions to India and Pakistan

From Kandahar, 9,500 tons of onions, with a market value exceeding two million U.S. dollars, have recently been exported to India and Pakistan, marking a notable activity in the region's agricultural trade. The Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment is actively seeking avenues to amplify agricultural exports to enhance the province's presence in international markets. Abdul Baqi Bina, the Deputy of the Chamber, highlighted the successful export of onions, emphasizing efforts to diversify Kandahar's export destinations.

Local farmers, including Mohammad Younis and Abdul Rahman, expressed the importance of international markets for their products, underlining the economic benefits of exporting high-quality onions. The Kandahar Department of Agriculture and Irrigation provided insights into the agricultural landscape, noting that onions have been cultivated on 1,900 hectares, with an anticipated yield of 68,000 tons for the current solar year. This data underscores the province's robust agricultural sector and its potential to contribute to the economy through exports.
