In Shan State's Taunggyi fruits market, the avocado trade has seen an uptick, with Yangon and Mandalay emerging as the primary buyers. The current season has led to an increase in sales, attributed to Shan State's prominent position as the leading avocado producer in Myanmar. The season, which spans from October to February or March, is expected to see a reduction in prices as production volumes rise, particularly during the peak months of November and December. According to Ma Sandi Tayar, a fruit distributor from Taunggyi Township, the production has already been substantial, leading to more affordable prices.
Yangon's high demand for avocados, notably in the form of juice, underscores the fruit's popularity in the region. A fruit trader from Mayangon Township highlighted the fruit's widespread consumption, especially in juice form, contributing to the overall high sales during this period.
