The newly harvested ginger is currently in the "rounding stage" for a month, a critical month-long curing period. Production for the new season is expected to rise by 10% compared to last year. Anqiu Jinzhi Food Co., Ltd., a ginger grower and exporter in Shandong, shared insights on the current market and export conditions through its sales manager, Tina.
"Large-scale harvesting of new ginger began in mid-October. The planting area for ginger has expanded this season, and favorable weather in Shandong's production areas has increased output. However, higher-than-usual temperatures have delayed the harvest period by about a month. The quality and color of the harvested ginger are better than last year. Fresh ginger is anticipated to enter the market at the end of November, with air-dried ginger expected by the end of December."
North America and Europe remain the primary export markets for Anqiu Jinzhi Food Co., Ltd., which exports around 400 containers of ginger annually. "Currently, our exports are mainly old ginger from last season, but these sales are nearing their end, and there is limited old ginger available. With markets preparing for Christmas, we expect old ginger prices to stay high until the new ginger arrives."
Located in Shandong Province, the primary ginger-producing area, Anqiu Jinzhi Food Co., Ltd. operates a 5,000-ton capacity warehouse and a dedicated planting base. The company holds GLOBAL GAP organic and Sedex certifications.
