Thanks to its flavor and versatility, Pitahaya is an emerging and increasingly relevant crop in the international market.
According to German Caballero, a specialist and founding partner of Epic Farms (a company focused on organic pitahaya production in the province of Pisco), the market for this fruit was valued at $14.73 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach $18.27 billion in 2029.
Peru exported 406 tons of pitahaya worth $ 1.3 million in the first half of 2024, he stated.
Caballero also forecasted that Peruvian papaya exports would reach a value of up to $15 million in three to four years.
