After a trial in 15 shops, Colruyt Prix-Qualité, the Colruyt group's local supermarket chain with 102 shops in France, and Too Good To Go, the anti-waste specialist, have announced that they are extending their collaboration by rolling out the application in all the chain's 102 stores.
Too Good To Go
Surprise baskets deployed throughout France
Employees scour the shelves for products nearing their sell-by date and then put together surprise baskets. These are offered in the free Too Good To Go application, downloadable from the iOS and Android app stores. The baskets can be reserved in the application and then collected at a predefined time of day by the users.
David Vlérick, sales manager at Colruyt France, is delighted with this new partnership with Too Good To Go. "After a successful test in 15 of our shops, we are delighted to be officially collaborating with Too Good To Go for all our local supermarkets and to be offering surprise baskets to our clients. At Colruyt, we believe that sustainable development is extremely important and we have been committed to having as little negative impact on the environment as possible for many years."
This national roll-out follows a pilot in 15 shops, which confirmed the relevance of the collaboration for both users and teams. In just 8 months, almost 125,000 baskets have been saved, with an average score of 4.6/5. As further proof of its relevance, this is the fastest national roll-out of Too Good To Go France.
Alex Grandgirard, regional manager at Colruyt France, goes one step further. "For us, this collaboration is another way of strengthening our commitment. It is in line with the added social value we can offer as a local retailer. We want to offer our clients the opportunity to make conscious choices in a very accessible way, and the partnership with Too Good To Go fits in perfectly with this idea. When we presented this solution in the shops, it immediately made sense."
Méleyne Rabot, director of Too Good To Go France, shares this enthusiasm. "We are delighted that Colruyt France has put its trust in us to help them reduce food waste. Building on our successful collaboration with the Colruyt group in Belgium, this roll-out of our solution in 102 shops in France marks a concrete step forward in making anti-waste accessible to a greater number of people. We look forward to working together to make a positive impact on the planet."
Baskets that suit all tastes and needs
Surprise baskets are made on the spot each day, then added by the shops directly in the application. Users can bookmark the shops of their choice, so they can quickly identify when a basket that interests them is posted online.
In order to suit their unsold stock flow and the users' desires, Colruyt France offers different types of surprise baskets: fruit and vegetables, butchery, mixed, bakery, as well as themed baskets (Easter, end-of-year celebrations…).
