Ground breaks on new Surrey, B.C. facility for City Wide Produce

In collaboration with Orion Construction, City Wide Produce broke ground on a new 26,680 sq. ft. facility in Campbell Heights. This purpose-built facility is designed to strengthen the city's agritech sector, triple its workforce as the organization grows, and expand access to fresh produce in the region.

The new facility will be critical in supporting Surrey, B.C.'s infrastructure needs. With the population currently exceeding 568,000, this new facility aligns with Surrey's Economic Strategy 2024, which emphasizes job creation, local investment, and the optimization of industrial lands to accommodate rapid growth.

"We've always believed in the motto 'You Grow, We Grow'—it's been at the heart of our journey," said Gopal Gupta, co-founder and chief produce officer. "This facility allows us to give back to the community that has supported our growth by providing greater access to fresh produce and creating new job opportunities for local residents."

The Campbell Heights facility will be equipped with advanced storage solutions, including temperature- and humidity-controlled zones that ensure produce freshness and quality, a vital component for serving North America and the Lower Mainland. The layout and design of the facility prioritize efficiency in storage and distribution, enabling the company to increase the volume and variety of fresh produce it provides. With expanded capacity, the company will be able to serve a broader network of retailers and restaurants, supporting Surrey's agricultural community and reinforcing its role as a central hub in the region's food supply chain.

The company's partnership with Orion Construction has resulted in a facility that meets the evolving needs of the produce industry, from efficient storage to streamlined logistics. "We're excited to partner with City Wide Produce on this state-of-the-art facility," noted Joshua Gaglardi, president of Orion Construction. "Our design-build approach allowed us to integrate critical operational requirements for produce handling, storage, and logistics. This facility meets their expanding needs and aligns with Surrey's vision for sustainable growth, further reinforcing the city's role as an agritech and commercial hub."
