Madagascar's lychee exports to Europe ramp up with four ships this season

The Atlantic Clipper, the initial vessel in this seasonal campaign, embarked from Toamasina, Madagascar on November 16, carrying 5,491 tons of lychees in 107 containers, as reported by the Atsinanana Regional Governor's Office. Despite a decrease in production, the export volume of lychees to Europe remains unaffected, with an increase in the number of ships from the usual two to four for this season.

The Crown Topaze, the second ship, has commenced loading with plans to transport 2,560 tons. Following closely are the CS Trust and the Regard Bay, tasked with carrying 5,121 tons and 1,600 tons respectively, ensuring timely delivery of Malagasy lychees for the Christmas market in Europe. The pre-loading handling operations for these shipments are undertaken by SMMC.
