Banana prices week 47:

Honduras sees a hefty 29% fall while Colombia is down 11%

Recent data on banana prices reveals significant weekly fluctuations across various countries, particularly in the dollar-exporting group. These changes highlight dynamic market conditions influenced by supply chain factors and international demand.

In Colombia, the current week's average price dropped to £0.75 from £0.84 the previous week, marking a decrease of £0.09 (11%). This decline could reflect improved supply or reduced export costs, benefiting buyers in the global market.

Honduras experienced the sharpest fall among the group, with prices dropping from £0.93 to £0.66, a notable £0.26 reduction (29%). Similarly, Panama saw its weekly average dip from £0.94 to £0.85, reflecting a smaller yet significant change of 10%.

Guatemala reported a decrease from £0.91 to £0.78, a reduction of £0.13 or 14%. These price movements emphasize the importance of continuous monitoring to understand the intricate balance of production, demand, and pricing in the banana export market.
