Wholesale banana prices - week 49

Banana prices drop 17% in Costa Rica while remaining stable in Colombia and Honduras

Over the past week, the banana market has shown varying trends across different countries. While some countries experienced stability in prices, others saw slight decreases, reflecting changing market dynamics.

In Colombia, banana prices remained stable with no change from the previous week, holding at £0.70 per kilogram. Similarly, in Honduras, prices showed no fluctuations, maintaining their average price of £0.661 per kilogram.

In contrast, Costa Rica witnessed a notable decline in banana prices. The average price fell from £0.95 to £0.79 per kilogram, reflecting a decrease of approximately 17%. This drop could be attributed to increased supply or shifting demand dynamics in the international market.

These trends highlight the diverse economic and market conditions influencing banana trade across countries. Monitoring these fluctuations is essential for stakeholders to adapt to changing market scenarios effectively.
