CBP seizes 196 pounds of cocaine hidden in pepper shipment at Pharr Bridge

In a recent operation at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted a significant quantity of cocaine. The discovery was made when officers, employing non-intrusive inspection technology, selected a tractor-trailer entering from Mexico for a detailed examination. The inspection revealed 80 packages of alleged cocaine, weighing approximately 196.21 pounds (89 kg), concealed within a shipment of peppers. The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $2,619,800. Following the seizure, the narcotics and vehicle were confiscated, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents commenced criminal investigations. This interception underscores CBP's ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking.
