Grupo Agroponiente has reported that its five collection centers in the Sierra de Granada experienced significant growth in the summer season. The company's logistics centers, especially those located in the mountain areas of Zafarraya, Jayena, Benalúa de Guadix, and Canlines in Granada, and Gérgal in Almeria, were operational throughout the summer. A wide range of produce has been marketed in these centers, including tomato, courgette, pepper, bean, cucumber, and aubergine, reaching a total sales volume of more than 20 million kilos; a notable increase over the previous season.
The Zafarraya center experienced the greatest growth, with the increase in tomato and cucumber sales standing out, the latter with particular growth in the Jayena center. The product with the greatest percentage growth was pepper, especially in Zafarraya. Benalúa de Guadix experienced the greatest increase in volume this summer, closely followed by Zafarraya.
There was also an increase in the number of farmers, with more than 500 producers entrusting their produce to Grupo Agroponiente in these five centers; a clear demonstration of the company's field and sales team's solid work.
Imanol Almudí, CEO of Grupo Agroponiente, emphasized the importance of the mountain centers, highlighting the company's vocation to serve farmers and customers throughout the year. "These volumes are crucial to maintaining our daily service throughout the year, meeting the quality demands of our customers in summer. Our goal is to continue providing the best possible service every day of the year, based on the needs of our customers," Almudí stated.
