The Greenery and AB Texel announce partnership with proposed Dijco acquisition

The Greenery and AB Texel plan to establish a partnership in which AB Texel will handle all national and international transport activities for The Greenery. A key aspect of this collaboration is the proposed acquisition of International Transport Company Dijco by AB Texel, a logistics partner specializing in agri-food. "This move aligns seamlessly with The Greenery's Focus25 strategy, which aims to maximize value creation for growers and customers by concentrating on core activities," the company stated.

Stronger focus and shared ambitions
"The partnership allows The Greenery to fully concentrate on its core business—growing and marketing fruits and vegetables from its growers—while AB Texel leverages its expertise to create an efficient and sustainable transport chain," said Arthur Swijter, CFO of The Greenery. "We support our sustainability goals by jointly pursuing innovative and environmentally friendly logistics solutions."

Sustainability is a critical component of this collaboration. By transitioning to HVO fuel for transport, The Greenery is taking a significant step toward reducing CO₂ emissions. Meanwhile, AB Texel continues to invest in making its vehicle fleet more sustainable and advancing digitalization. This combined effort improves service for growers and customers and contributes to broader sustainability within the food chain, the companies explained.

"We look forward to applying our logistics expertise for The Greenery and jointly building a more sustainable and efficient food chain. This partnership aligns with our strategy to support partners in achieving their ambitions sustainably, using economies of scale, network strength, expertise, and data as key success factors," said Dennis Wetenkamp, CEO of AB Texel.

Proposed takeover
The acquisition of Dijco by AB Texel is subject to approval by the Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM). The proposed acquisition includes Dijco's employees, customer base, and fleet.

The Greenery and AB Texel are optimistic about the future and view this partnership as a valuable opportunity for all stakeholders in the fresh produce chain.
