Cold storage, sorting, and fruit growing company

Van den Brink open afternoon draws strong attendance

Last Friday, 13 December, the Van den Brink cold storage, sorting, and fruit-growing company in 't Goy (Houten) hosted an open afternoon for business relations and residents.

The well-attended event highlighted the newly completed building, covering over 3,300 m² of space. Investments were made in 16 ULO cold stores, automation systems, sorting and packaging facilities, a shipping area, work cells, and cultivation spaces. Designed with the future in mind, the building is highly sustainable, featuring advanced insulation, solar panels, heat recovery systems, and an emergency power supply with an EMS-controlled battery system.

As the exclusive sorting company for the Early Desire Club pear, Van den Brink sorted the last pears of the season last Friday—to the satisfaction of Staay Food Group. It was a challenging production season for many Dutch pear growers, with heavy rainfall and frequent hailstorms. Despite these difficulties, the pack-out results were not disappointing. Van den Brink has heavily invested in automation for sorting and packing in recent years and plans to continue this trend to remain appealing to its diverse customer base.

In addition to pear production, Van den Brink has increasingly focused on the long-term storage and sorting/packaging of top fruit. The company has also been approached more frequently by importers for the storage and sorting/packaging of various other fruit and vegetable products, including citrus and grapes. Last year, Van den Brink also became a logistics service provider for Schoolfruit.nl.

The Van den Brink family looks back on a highly successful afternoon and evening, expressing gratitude to their visitors and business partners for their trust and support.
