In winter, the LLombart range includes the Rosé Orange, also known as California Rojo or Red Navel. This extraordinary citrus fruit, grown in Spain and South Africa, is said to delight with its unique aroma and characteristic coloring, caused by the phytochemical lycopene, according to the company, which has sites in Lahr and Friesenheim. LLombart recognized the potential of this fruit a long time ago and has built up strong partnerships with selected producers. "We see the rose-colored and red-orange varieties not only as a taste enrichment but also as a real added value for the consumer," says LLombart.
Cara Cara orange
The company has set itself the task of maximizing the availability of these special fruits. New cultivation methods and varieties are continuously being researched in the company's own trial fields to expand the availability of these special fruits. "This is part of our long-term strategy to create a 12-month supply of high-quality citrus fruits and to revolutionize the market for lycopene oranges." The varieties currently available are available from December to February and distributed by LLombart to food retailers and wholesale customers.
The Rosé Orange is used freshly peeled, in salads, or as juice. Thanks to its high carotenoid content, the Rosé Orange offers a stronger antioxidant effect than conventional varieties.
Planned brand relaunch
This way, LLombart aims to offer a wide and high-quality range of Rosé Oranges. "These include proven varieties such as Cara Cara and Kirkwood, as well as the new variety Red Lina, which will be available for the first time this season. In collaboration with leading scientists and partners, we are conducting clinical studies to further research and scientifically substantiate the health benefits of Rosé Oranges." The commitment to quality and innovation is also reflected in the company's own brands, 'Pretty in Pink' and 'La Vie en Rose'. Both are scheduled to be relaunched at the end of next year with a fresh design and new look.
Insight into orange growing: The management of LLombart is generally very satisfied with the market situation for Rosé Oranges. The season has started well, and the quality is very good.
The Rosé Orange is more than just a fruit – it is a symbol of LLombart's commitment to bringing the best of nature to market, emphasizing the management of the family business, referring to the high growth potential. "With the brands already mentioned and continuous research and development, we are convinced that the Rosé Orange will become even more important in the coming years."
