Ethiopia's horticulture exports reach $216 million in first five months of 2024/25

In a recent update from Ethiopia's Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, the horticulture sector has been reported to generate over 216 million USD in export revenues within the first five months of the 2024/25 fiscal year. Specifically, the flower export segment contributed 186,361,000 USD from the sale of 45,878 tons, marking an improvement over the previous year's performance for the same timeframe. Additionally, the export of vegetables and fruits brought in 30,294,000 USD from over 121,000 tons, showing a 6.55 percent growth rate year-on-year.

The report also highlighted the primary export destinations for Ethiopian horticultural products. The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom were the leading importers of Ethiopian flowers. On the other hand, Somalia, Djibouti, and the Netherlands were the top destinations for Ethiopian vegetables, with Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, and Somalia being significant for vegetable exports in that order.
