The Russian government has approved duty-free imports of potatoes, carrots, and apples until July 31, 2025. This decision aligns with the previously adopted resolution by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Council.
According to a government press release, specific regulations have been established for the duty-free import of these products. The EEC Council decision, made in November 2024, allows Russia to import up to 150,000 tons of potatoes, 55,000 tons of carrots, and 230,000 tons of apples without tariffs.
The Ministry of Agriculture has been designated as the authorized body to oversee these imports. It will issue certifications to confirm that imported products meet the criteria for tariff exemptions.
This measure, retroactive from January 1, 2025, is intended to support the stability of the domestic food market. According to the government, duty-free imports will help balance supply and ensure stable prices for essential produce.
