Over the decade from 2014 to 2024, kiwi fruit imports into Hong Kong grew at an annual rate of 1.2%, with a significant value increase in 2016 by 27%. The peak import value was $58 million in 2019, indicating a continuous demand for kiwi fruits in Hong Kong.
New Zealand, Chile, and Japan were the primary sources, making up 80% of the total imports, with Japan showing notable growth in both volume and value. New Zealand and Italy also played crucial roles in supplying kiwi fruits to Hong Kong. In 2023, the average import price was $3,544 per ton, with Japan's kiwi fruits fetching the highest prices due to their quality.
This scenario underscores Hong Kong's role as a pivotal hub in the international kiwi fruit trade, highlighting the potential for further growth and collaboration within the global supply chains.
