Pink Lady® UK -

UK retailers drive record year of branded apple sales

Pink Lady® UK has celebrated its strongest season to date, following outstanding support from its growers, licensees and retail partners. The record-breaking Southern Hemisphere season has seen the biggest ever volume sold by British retailers, who have continued to champion the UK's number one fresh produce brand.

Pink Lady enjoyed 8.7%* increase in value and 14.2%* (Kantar data w/e 3rd Nov 2024) increase in volume with the exceptional performance demonstrating the critical role that retailers have played in cultivating consumer demand and creating stand-out for branded produce in the wider fresh produce category.

Retailers have continued to embrace the leading apple brand, offering a broader range of produce to consumers. Partners have also increased the amount of Pink Lady® branded packaging in-store, creating greater visibility and recognition amongst shoppers.

Sainsbury's has played a particularly significant role in this growth, with a strong performance particularly in the South Hemisphere season and a dramatic increase in market share value in the 12 weeks leading up to November 3rd 2024.

Julie Criddle, Head of Commercial at Pink Lady licensor and marketer, Twenty Degrees, said: "Once again, our retailer partners have driven an extremely successful season for Pink Lady UK. They have really invested in the power of branding, taking on more branded packing to increase visibility and drive volume. The record-breaking results are testament to the dedication of retailers like Sainsbury's, who continue to champion the qualities that Pink Lady has become renowned for. With the Northern Hemisphere season looking just as promising, we are excited to continue our journey with these valued partners."

Pink Lady now has a 22% market share, second only to Royal Gala. The brand has established commercial orchards in the UK, France, Spain and Italy in Europe and in the Southern Hemisphere in order to maintain year-round production.
