Mid-season apple prices rise 25% while asparagus prices fall

Recent market data reveals notable price shifts for various produce categories, as seen in the comparison between current and previous weekly averages. For apples (Other Mid Season), the average price rose from £1.10 to £1.37, reflecting a £0.27 increase or a 25% week-on-week change. This represents the highest percentage increase among the selected apple categories in the report.

In contrast, apples (Other Late Season) experienced a significant price drop. The average price decreased from £2.08 in the previous week to £1.67 in the current week, showing a £0.41 decline, which corresponds to a 20% reduction. Meanwhile, Conference pears also recorded a slight decrease in average price, moving from £1.27 to £1.25, marking a £0.02 drop or a 2% decline compared to the previous week.

Among vegetables, asparagus prices saw a noticeable decrease. The average price fell from £19.37 in the previous week to £18.58 in the current week, resulting in a £0.79 decline, equating to a 4% reduction. These figures highlight both upward and downward movements across different produce categories, indicating dynamic pricing trends in the market.
