Peruvian grape shipments up to week 10 experienced a 32% YOY increase

Peru exported 81,084,815 boxes (8.2 kilos each) of table grapes up to week 10 of this season, i.e. 32% more than in the same period last year, according to a report by Fresh Cargo Peru. This amounts to 664,895 tons exported in 43,001 containers for an accumulated FOB value of $1.6 billion.

North America was the main market with a 63% share and a 43% increase. Europe continues with 24% (+47%), Latin America with 7% (+10%), Asia with 6% (-34%), and the Middle East and Oceania with less than 1% of the total shipped. "Strong growth in Europe and North America confirms the high demand in these markets, while the decline in Asia may indicate logistical challenges or increased competition," the report states.

Ica led production with 40.1 million boxes, followed by Piura with 29.2 million, Lambayeque with 4.99 million, La Libertad with 3.68 million, and Arequipa with 2.3 million. "Ica and Piura continue to be the leading producers, accounting for 85% of total exports," the report concludes.
