Ataulfo mango launched across EMEA markets

Dole has introduced the Ataulfo mango to its Dole Exotic Selection range, making it available to retail, wholesale, and food service customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Known for its golden-yellow skin, soft texture, and sweet flavour with notes of peach and vanilla, the Ataulfo mango will be distributed nearly year-round, from February to December, through Dole's supply chain network.

Sourced from Mexico and Brazil, the Ataulfo mango is ripened on the tree and shipped ready to eat. It is recommended that the fruit be stored at room temperature and consumed within 7 to 10 days of arrival, although shelf life may vary depending on origin and seasonal conditions. Also referred to as "Champagne" or "Honey" mangoes, the variety is known for its smooth flesh and low fibre content.

Oscar Dominguez Donaire, Category Director of Exotics EMEA at Dole, stated that the Ataulfo mango was introduced to meet ongoing consumer interest in a broader range of exotic fruits while maintaining consistency in quality and supply. He emphasized that Dole's sourcing and supply practices aim to meet both retailer expectations and consumer demand for ripeness and taste.

The Ataulfo mango is certified by several international sustainability and ethical trade standards, including GLOBALG.A.P., GRASP, SMETA, LEAF, and the Rainforest Alliance. The rollout will be accompanied by in-store promotions and educational campaigns to familiarize consumers with the variety's characteristics and optimal use.
