Site, Myfin.by, analyzed the statistics and looked at which countries import potatoes from Belarus.
It is difficult to estimate the volume and geography of Belarusian potato exports since Belstat stopped publishing detailed foreign trade statistics. To evaluate, data from Belarus's trading partners (import analysis) and international statistics, such as UN reports, are used.
Traditionally, most of Belarus's potato exports are directed to Russia. At the end of last year, it was reported that potato imports into Russia from Belarus increased by 60.8% (since the beginning of the year), with an estimated volume of nearly 170,000 tons.
According to UN Comtrade, in 2024, Moldova ($14.4 million), Azerbaijan ($2.8 million), and North Macedonia ($0.96 million) were active importers of fresh or chilled potatoes from Belarus.
Belarus also shipped potatoes to countries like Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Montenegro.
It should be noted that the full set of data for 2024 is not yet available in the UN Comtrade trade database. However, it is known that in the previous year, Belarus also exported potatoes to Serbia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
