"Prices in China declining"

"Mangosteen season in eastern Thailand nearing its end"

“Imported mangosteens in the Chinese market mainly come from Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Among these countries, the product from Thailand commands prominent market advantages. Currently, the production season in eastern Thailand is nearing its end, and the last volumes are entering the market. Afterwards, after a short window of unavailability, the crop from southern Thailand will enter the harvest season,” Ma Wenwei, General Manager of Shunde Fengguo (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. said.

"In the first half of this year, the fruit sales in general have not been satisfactory due to the overall sluggish climate. Compared with other fruit items, the sales performance of mangosteens from Thailand has been acceptable, although the market is declining to some extent due to the relatively high proportion of low-quality fruit in the last volumes brought by rainy weather."

"In addition, since May, a wide variety of seasonal fruits have been flooding the Chinese market, especially locally grown lychees that have had a bumper harvest. The surge in supply has led to a continuous decline in prices, and has also put pressure on the price of Thai mangosteens and sales are not going very smoothly.”
