Mingolo mangoes now available in Italy

The new Mingolo mango campaign has just started. This variety is well known in the US and northern Europe, but it is still rather uncommon in Italy. It comes from the Dominican Republic and is imported by Ditta 2M. A wholesaler at Maap, the fresh produce market in Padua, currently has some batches available.

"It is an excellent variety I have known for years thanks to my many work trips to the Dominican Republic. It has a deep yellow color, a sweet flavor and a slightly resinous aroma. It is definitely worth a try. The price depends on the period but it is similar to that of traditional mangoes," explains importer Luca Bernardini.

The fruit is imported by air to preserve its quality. Bernardini is available to promote it to as many wholesalers and big retail chains possible.

"Production reaches its peak in April and continues until late July. These mangoes are among the most cultivated in the Dominican Republic and demand from northern Europe is lively, while they are little known in Italy."
