The grape season in Egypt is starting and looks extremely promising. Hapag-Lloyd expects grape exports to increase by 10-15% this year. In contrast to last year, the grape harvest starts early this year, so the shipping line expects the first trial delivery in this week. The first departure from Damietta (Egypt) is then expected to take place as early as this week.
To ensure that Hapag-Lloyd can continue to offer customers a first-class service this year despite the current shortage of containers on the ships, the release of containers for Grapes bookings will be prioritized. As one of the largest reefer carriers with more than 100,000 reefer containers, the shipping company will ensure that all customers are supplied with fresh grapes this year as well.
With the redesigned ADX service Hapag-Lloyd will be able to offer an extremely fast weekly service every Monday with a transit time of up to 4 days from Damietta to Koper.
"A reliable schedule and fast transit times are key for our customers. It is precisely these two factors that have enabled us to be the market leader on this corridor already in 2019. Also in 2021 we will be the leading carrier for Egyptian grapes again", says Bassent Farouk, Reefer Manager Area Egypt.
