The Garces family believes that agriculture is a way of life that has to adapt to changing times and that needs to continue to be a profitable business for producers. "Producers must innovate from the production process to the marketing process, but they don't always have all the necessary knowledge and resources to do so," stated Camilo Garces, CEO of IOland.
The Garces family has been providing solutions to the sector for more than 50 years via the Grupo Fitogar. They know that a producer's adaptation depends on the pace at which they adopt technological solutions. That's why the family's third generation created the IOland division, which focuses on the main problems faced by farmers and how to solve them by using technology in the processes that are carried out in a traditional manner.
"Our latest tool, Samplers, is the best example of this work philosophy. Samplers is a revolutionary app that is based on the classic farmer's notebook," Camilo Garces stated. "Levels or presence of pests, sizes, production, budding, and flowering. Everything that happens to the crop is jotted down directly to Samplers. The information on field conditions is digitized in a simple way and the app uses it to create statistics and sampling mappings that producers can use to make faster and more precise decisions about each area."
"Mobile applications have become the easiest way to take advantage of technology in our daily lives and this has been the basis of the development of the Samplers app," stated the CEO of this company.
Samplers is available for download from the mobile app store. For the moment, since it's in its first phase, it is only available for Android.
"We expect a large number of downloads because, in its trial version, farmers were very satisfied with the app and its performance," Garces added.
According to the head of IOland, the other solutions they are already marketing help producers save 20% to 30% of their water and make better use of fertilizers, which leads to an optimization of field production and greater profitability.
IOland develops its tools in collaboration with research institutes, such as the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE), l'Institut Valencià d'Investigacions Agràries (IVIA), l'Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria Agronòmica i del Medi Natural, Information and Communication Technologies (ITACA) + Biomedical Data Science Lab (BDS Lab), and with the co-financed from the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) and the European Development Fund Regional (ERDF).
