Entre Rios analyzes the possibility of reducing tariffs for the entry of Argentine sweet citrus to the United Kingdom

The Minister of Production, Juan Jose Bahillo, held an online meeting with the Argentine ambassador to the United Kingdom, Javier Figueroa, where they discussed the possibility of achieving a reduction in tariffs for the citrus from Entre Rios.

Bahillo was accompanied by the Undersecretary for Trade and Investment Promotion of the Foreign Ministry, Pablo Sivori, as well as by the Secretary of Agriculture, Lucio Amavet; the Director of Foreign Trade, Juan Mansur, and the Executive Director of the NEA Chamber of Citrus Exporters, Santiago Caprarulo.

The Argentine diplomat made a detailed report on the commercial situation with the United Kingdom, taking into account the new panorama that arose after the United Kingdom left the European Union, which implies, among other factors, that the negotiations are not carried out within the framework of the regional bloc.

This is generating opportunities that, all agreed, need to be worked on. Last year, for example, was a good year for Argentina in terms of exports to this market. Exporters still have expectations in many sectors of the British market, which is an interesting market in terms of its purchasing power.

Figueroa stressed that the embassies could provide commercial reports on the market, and offer contact and logistics schemes. Thus, this kind of meeting provides reliable information and greatly expedites procedures.

The Entre Rios officials stated that they will provide a detailed report on how the provincial trade with the United Kingdom is composed, which includes poultry meat, rice, citrus fruits, blueberries, and sour citrus juice concentrates.

Bahillo stressed that this meeting had been held after the NEA Chamber of Citrus Exporters had asked about the possibility of reducing tariffs on the entry of sweet citrus to the United Kingdom in a different working meeting.
