Chinese market price of Peruvian OZblu blueberries is higher than last year

"This season's first shipping container of Peruvian OZblu blueberries sold out immediately"

This season's first shipping container of OZblu blueberries, produced in Peru, arrived in China on the 26th of August. The arrival was celebrated with a festive ceremony in Shanghai. Representatives from across the country were present when the container was opened. The blueberries were met with positive evaluations. Company spokesperson Sean Chen talked about the market conditions of OZblu blueberries.

This is the second time that Shanghai-based Yuqian Supply Chain Management has welcomed the OZblu blueberries from Ica Province in Peru. The first time was in September, 2019. "Peru enjoyed an abundant blueberry harvest this year. The global export volume significantly increased in comparison to last year. The blueberries were delivered in excellent condition, their size is uniform, and the flavor is delicious."

"The blueberry production season in Peru began somewhat late this year. Supply was very limited early in the season, and the price was higher than in previous years. As for the market, this container was sold out before arrival. This year we will certainly import a larger volume than last year," said Sean, "because the product quality is great and market demand is strong. However, international distribution is a problem these days. We never know with certainty how long shipping will take, and customs procedures take longer too because of the pandemic. These are challenges all fruit importers face. Yet despite all these obstacles, we are very positive about this Peruvian blueberry season."

Sean continued, “OZblu blueberries – a leading producer of new blueberry varieties – prides itself on producing a range of blueberries that are juicer, crunchier and tastier than the older traditional varieties, through a unique and sustainable breeding programme, which was started by world renowned Australian breeders, Dave and Leasa Mazzardis and all OZblu is exclusively marketed by United Exports. OZblu has also broken the Guinness World Record twice for the heaviest blueberry.  Since its first commercial planting in 2013, United Exports has made a significant investment in global blueberry production of the OZblu blueberries.”

Shanghai Yuqian Supply Chain Management works hard to expand the Chinese market for Peruvian blueberries, raise the profile of OZblu blueberries in China, and deepen the commercial ties between the two countries. The company aims to strengthen genuine cooperation and mutual benefit, while simultaneously providing Chinese consumers with the freshest and most delicious, nutrient-rich blueberries in the world.

"Zambia obtained permission in September 2020 to export blueberries to China. The OZblu variety was the first blueberry variety from Zambia to obtain permission for export to the Chinese market. At that time, we acted as their importer and main retailer in China. Together we arranged for the first arrival of Zambian blueberries on the Chinese market, and we received great feedback."

Shanghai Yuqian Supply Chain Management will participate in the Shanghai International Fruit Expo on 8-10 October, 2021. Visitors are welcome at their company stand in hall E5 at booth D1-1.
