On Wednesday morning, February 1, the first young zucchini plants began flowering at CourgetteFleur Zwinkels in the Netherlands. That heralds the start of the 2023 season. The first CourgetteFleur and Fioretta's have been harvested, packed, and delivered.
"It paints a lovely picture to see all these beautiful yellow flowers and the bumblebees busily pollinating them," say growers Johan and Guus Zwinkels. "Our produce will soon find its way to chefs who'll transform them into wonderful, beautiful dishes."
Yellow Fleurs and mini zucchini will follow in ten days. "We don't store anything. The plants bloom for only one day, so we pick, per order, early every morning and then immediately flow pack the flowers. The lines are short, so the product reaches its final destination quickly. The fresher the product, the nicer they present on plates."
The products are GlobalGAP, GRASP, and PlanetProof certified. "We do our utmost to deliver the cleanest possible product with a good shelf life. Only then can we talk about delivering top quality of which we're proud," the men concluded.
Besides these zucchini specialties, CourgetteFleur Zwinkels has standard green and yellow zucchini too, available in different sizes and packaging.
