Kyrgyzstan is about to allow the export of onions. A decision has been submitted to the government to lift restrictions on the export of onions. It is reported by Knews.kg with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
To support domestic producers and increase the export potential of the republic, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic drafted a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the Imposition of a Temporary Ban on the Exports of Certain Types of Agricultural Goods from the Kyrgyz Republic” dated November 4, 2022 No. 600″, which provides for the removal of restrictions on the exports of onions (TN VED code 0703) from the Kyrgyz Republic, the agency said.
At the end of January, a resolution on the introduction of a temporary ban on the exports of onions was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan. The ban was effective for three months from January 31. This was done to ensure food security and to contain the prices of socially significant food products (onions, shallots, leeks, and other alliaceous vegetables, fresh or chilled).
As EastFruit reported, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Iran also introduced restrictions on onion exports.
