A plot of land has already been chosen in Kazakhstan for the orchard. The intention of the Turkish investor became known back in 2020. The company from Turkey is interested in planting more than 8 million fruit trees in an area of 5 thousand hectares.
The Ministry of Agriculture is working on the Investment Agreement project. Thus, in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan, 3.5 thousand hectares of apple trees, 500 hectares of pears, 500 hectares of sweet cherries, and 500 hectares of sour cherries will be planted.
The project concept involves a closed production cycle with a zero-waste policy. In particular, investments include not only the laying of fruit orchards but also the opening of factories for the production of concentrates, and ready-made juices, as well as organizing packaging and storage of fresh fruits. At the same time, they want to buy raw materials for production from local farmers.
The project is planned to be implemented in several stages over five years. However, the exact deadlines have not been named by the department.
"The investor's agronomists will accompany Kazakhstani farmers to increase the quality and quantity of the harvest for further supply to markets. This, in turn, will lead to the development of the horticultural sector and an increase in labor productivity in the agro-industrial complex," the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized.
At the same time, it is noted that the Turkish company will provide full technical and agrarian support for the project. It will also provide export contracts for the purchase of fruits, juices, and concentrates on foreign markets through the investor's existing distribution network and sales channels. It is planned to export about 60% of the production.
