Rene Bouman, FMI:

"Declining supply causing lime market revival"

Europe's lime market prices, which have been dismal for a while, are improving. "Export volumes have dropped considerably, and the old stocks in Europe are as just about sold out," says Dutch company FMI's Rene Bouman.

"It rained tremendously in Brazil in recent months, so that supply was and remains limited. Besides less volume, that also means the limes' quality isn't great. An abundance of rain results in lighter-colored, weaker fruit."

"The rain hasn't abated, so export volumes remain limited for now. Despite all the challenges, FMI is optimistic about the lime market as spring approaches," concludes Rene.
