Is it possible to harvest fruit and vegetables this year in the South of Ukraine?

The de-occupation of a part of the South of Ukraine will not have an immediately positive effect on the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market this year. Ukrainian agrarians working in the de-occupied territories faced several problems with mines and land contamination with explosive residues. This slows down the ability to enter the fields and conduct economic activities.

Most of the agricultural enterprises were destroyed and looted by the Russian invaders, so the agrarians of Southern Ukraine cannot quickly return to work. Also, farmers who do not have the financial resources to conduct surveys and demining, respectively, will not be able to cultivate their land this spring.

The lack of supplies from the southern regions has a tangible impact on the proposal in the market, and therefore prices are constantly changing. Imported products play a significant role in the overall market balance. Ukraine needs both financial support and the involvement of special equipment for the thorough demining of territories and assistance in training people.

However, thanks to the de-occupation of the right bank of the Kherson region in November last year, neighboring regions this season will be able to grow vegetables and fruits more actively and safely and harvest more.

The western regions also grow a lot of vegetables and fruits. Still, they also faced many problems last season - the rise in the cost of fertilizers, logistics, and problems with the electricity supply.
