The volume of potato cultivation has increased in Uzbekistan

Potato cultivation significantly increased in Uzbekistan, as reported by the Agency of Statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the first half of the current year, a total of approximately 1.7 million tons of potatoes were cultivated in Uzbekistan across all categories of farms. Compared to the same period last year, this figure has grown by 3.3%.

Among the regions of the country, the Samarkand region has taken the lead in potato cultivation, with a share of 18.5% of the total crop volume. A significant share of the cultivated potato volume is also recorded in the Surkhandarya region at 13.5%. At the same time, the lowest proportions of potato cultivation in the overall volume correspond to the Djizak region at 0.7% and the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 1.7%.

It's worth noting that in recent years, Uzbekistan has been actively developing the export of fruits and vegetables. Uzbek farmers often send their produce to Kazakhstan and Russia. Additionally, the country strives to fully supply local markets with the necessary fruits and vegetables.
