At the height of the Peruvian blueberry campaign, it seems that it still cannot recover. So far this season, Peru has shipped 57,495 tons of blueberries, i.e. 51% less than in the same period of the previous season (2022/2023).
In the last week, Peru shipped 7,955 tons of blueberries, which was 65% less than in the same week of 2022. Peru sent its blueberries to 24 destinations, the same number of places as last year, but purchases were much smaller.
The main destination was the United States, with a 56% share; followed by the Netherlands, with a 26% share; and China, with a 6% share.
Peru sent 4,460 tons of blueberries to the US, i.e. 60% less than in the same week of 2022. Exports to this market were led by the Peruvian exporters Camposol S.A., with a 16% share, and Agrícola Cerro Prieto, with a 13% share.
Shipments to the Netherlands amounted to 2,056 tons. This was 67% lower than in the same week of the previous campaign. Exports were led by Sociedad Agrícola Drokasa S.A., with 11%, and Agrovision Perú S.A.C., with 11%.
China was the third biggest destination country. Peru shipped a total of 530 tons of blueberries to this market, which represented an 85% drop over the same period last year. The main Peruvian exporters to this market were Camposol S.A., with a 60% share, and Exportadora Frutícola del Sur S.A., with a 17% share.
