Diario Expansión has reported that, according to industry sources, the Miura Partners venture capital fund is holding negotiations to sell the Citrus Global fruit group (Citri&co) for about 1,500 million euro.
This fund is the majority owner of Citri&co, a group made up of a dozen large companies in the sector: the Spanish Frutas Esther, the French company Arco Fruits, the Argentine company San Miguel, the Brazilian Melon&co and Agrícola Famosa, the Moroccan Sunpack, the Valencian Martín Navarro, Rio Tinto from Huelva, the Alicante-based Perales&Ferrer, and the Argentine company Safresco, which also has production centers in Peru, Argentina, and South Africa.
This group, with a combined turnover of around 800 million euro, produces more than 850,000 tons of fruit a year, which it distributes in about 40 countries. It has about 25,000 hectares of production and more than 12,000 workers.
