Brazilian açaí groves now have a digital solution to improve the cultivation process. In partnership with the company Equilibrium Web, Embrapa Amazônia Oriental has made the Manejatech-açaí application available to the production sector. The tool can be downloaded for free and works on Android systems for cell phones or tablets, even without internet access.
Minimum impact management of native açaí groves, or sustainable, is a technology developed by Embrapa to reconcile fruit production and the conservation of floodplain forests in the Amazon estuary (a transitional aquatic environment between the river and the sea). In this environment, the açaí palm tree occurs naturally and its fruits traditionally make up an important part of the diet of riverside populations.
