According to data gathered by Frutas de Chile, up to week 6, a total of 82,452,392 5-kilo boxes of cherries have been exported in the 2023/2024 campaign. This is a slightly lower figure than the 83,220,842 boxes exported in the 2022/2023 season, but it is what was expected after a challenging year for producers. The question is: who were the top exporters?
Garcés Fruit was once again the country's leading cherry exporter, with 7,827,058 boxes shipped, recording a 7.9% drop compared to the previous campaign.
Next in the ranking are Copefrut, with 5,719,579 boxes exported (-6%), and Dole Chile, which exported 4,407,969 million boxes (-8.7%).
Worthy of note is that Verfrut, one of the country's main exporters, saw its shipments grow by 45.7%, going from 1,518,065 boxes in the 2022/2023 campaign to 2,211,344 boxes in the 2023/2024 campaign.
This year, the top 10 cherry exporting companies in Chile accounted for 42% of all shipments, with 34,620,193 boxes out of the 82,452,392 boxes exported in total.
