Brazil's fruit sector shines in global agriculture

In the agricultural landscape of Brazil, the fruit sector is booming. With a production volume reaching 58 million tons in 2022, this marks the nation as a key player on the global stage. This achievement not only underscores Brazil's rich botanical diversity but also its commitment to sustainability and cultural richness. The country's fruit variety, from the globally recognized açaí to the unique jabuticaba, plays a vital role in both domestic consumption and international markets.

While the majority of Brazil's fruit production caters to local markets, a significant portion finds its way across borders, with seven fruit varieties including mango and grapes, making up 80% of Brazil's fruit exports and contributing US$335 billion in revenue. Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States are the primary recipients of these exports. Furthermore, Brazil dominates the orange juice sector, holding a 72% share of the global market.

Leading the production charts, oranges represent the pinnacle of Brazil's fruit industry, followed by bananas and tomatoes, with significant contributions from regions such as São Paulo and Pará. These states are renowned for their production of oranges and açaí, respectively, highlighting the regional diversity and economic importance of Brazil's fruit production.
