The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has reported significant increases in agricultural exports to key markets, including Iraq, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and the UK, with growth rates of 110%, 46%, 18%, and 47% respectively. APEDA's strategic efforts aim at diversifying India's export basket, focusing on priority products such as fresh fruits, vegetables, processed foods, and animal products. This strategy seeks to reduce dependency on limited products and ascend the value chain.
In an effort to enhance India's agricultural export competitiveness, APEDA is engaging in partnerships with global supermarkets and working on reducing logistical expenses by establishing sea protocols in collaboration with research institutions. These initiatives are part of APEDA's broader goal to expand into markets in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, promoting sustainable growth.
Additionally, APEDA has been instrumental in promoting Shree Anna-Millets, aligning with the government's vision to cultivate a diversified food landscape. The International Year of Millets-2023 saw APEDA's focus on developing value-added millet products, including pasta, noodles, and snacks, integrating them into the export value chain. This effort not only brings innovation but also supports healthier dietary choices.
