Enhancing its apple packaging capacity in NSW

Batlow Fruit Company completed the upgrade of its packhouse

Batlow Fruit Company, situated in the Snowy Valleys of NSW, has completed an upgrade of its packhouse, enhancing its apple packaging capacity. The project was funded with over $2.7 million from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, complemented by an additional $274,000 from the company itself.

NSW Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty, emphasized the upgrade's role in supporting the region's largest employer and ensuring the company's sustainability. The modernization introduces new grading and sizing technology, aligning the facility with contemporary fruit processing standards. This advancement replaces outdated equipment and aims to meet the specifications required by Australia's major supermarkets. The upgrade is expected to enhance operational efficiency, reduce resource consumption, and support local growers by improving service quality and increasing returns. Batlow Fruit Company distributes over one million cartons of apples annually, marking a significant contribution to the local and national apple supply.
