Sapam Group inaugurates new site in Strasbourg

Offering more fresh and dried products

The Sapam Group, founded in 1962 and based in eastern France, held an open house on May 7th to inaugurate its 10,000 m² warehouse to its various partners, clients and suppliers. This is an "important step in strengthening the logistics capabilities of the group and better serve its clients."

"State-of-the-art infrastructure for optimized logistics"
"Located in Strasbourg, this new 10,000 m² warehouse is equipped with the latest technology designed to meet the highest standards of environmental performance. This modern facility offers essential operational efficiency, ensuring the fast and reliable distribution of fresh produce. The warehouse uses sustainable solutions such as geothermal energy for air conditioning, minimizing the carbon footprint while ensuring optimum comfort for the products. In addition, the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof, carried out in collaboration with the Grand-Est region, aims to generate 30% of the annual electricity consumption."

Expansion of business activity and environmental certification
"Our goal is always to offer as many fresh and dried products as possible to our clients. Moving to larger premises therefore enables us to expand our range and volumes, offering us better working conditions for office functions and better organization of space and storage in the warehouse area. The work was carried out prior to installation in 2022, and continues to this day. In November 2023, Sapam Strasbourg even expanded its activity to include seafood products, drawing on the expertise acquired in the Group's other seafood subsidiaries," explains Pierre Haentzler, managing director. The Group is now ISO 14001 certified, "a recognition that complements its range of more than 10 certifications, including Alsace Excellence."

Supporting local producers
For the Sapam Group, "increasing partnerships with local producers (and clients) is important and even part of the group's DNA. Today, we maintain close partnerships with nearly 200 producers around our distribution warehouses, promoting a responsible and sustainable approach to our sourcing."

The event brought together local personalities, business partners and the Sapam Group management team. The guests included: Guillaume Libsig, deputy mayor of Strasbourg in charge of Associative Life, Youth Policy and Events; Catherine Graef-Eckert, vice-president of the CEA in charge of Economic Dynamics and Energy Transition; Jean-Louis Hoerlé, vice-president of the CEA in charge of Strasbourg Eurometropole and mayor of Bischheim; Pierre Barth, president of IFLA (Alsace Fruit and Vegetable Interprofession) and Sébastien Muller, president of ARIA (Regional Food Sector Association) and Savourez l'Alsace.
