Mobile modular system gains ground in European retail

"Solution enables uniform appearance while allowing room for flexibility and individuality"

Mobile presentation islands are the ideal tool for optimally showcasing products. The simple, modular system from Pack'nlog Ltd is primarily used for promotions, campaigns, secondary or joint placements. "The actual advertising element is a plastic or cardboard ring that can be customized and exchanged to suit the respective products, situations, or needs. Thus, images and messages are conveyed in a very simple, direct way and, most importantly, in a highly visible manner. The retail sector particularly values the flexibility in the deployment location. This allows for testing various placements, even outside the fruit and vegetable section, and gaining important insights. The mobility and light weight of the mobile presentation island offer a decisive advantage," according to the Linz-based company.

Since this year, the South Tyrolean cooperative VOG - the driving force behind numerous successful club apple concepts - has also been using the mobile presentation islands made in Austria. The procedure is particularly used for the brands Cosmic Crisp®, RedPop®, Giga®, and yello®. To translate the products and associated messages into images, an "Innovation Corner" was created and initial tests were conducted in German and Swedish retail markets in spring 2024. The results so far have been consistently positive, confirms the management of Pack'nlog GmbH. "The varieties in the 'Innovation Corner' performed significantly better than the rest and were also strongly resold. Thus, the test phase was a great success." Further countries and markets are now planned for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

From the consumer's perspective, the islands offer multiple advantages, as evidenced by studies and feedback. "One quickly finds what one is looking for. Attractive printing over a large area, which can even be expanded using a crowner from the Pack'nlog modular system, creates emotions at the point of sale and conveys important information about the respective product to the consumer," says Pack'nlog CEO Franz Leisch .

Meanwhile, the Pack'nlog product presentation system is successfully used in various product areas, whether in small local suppliers or hypermarkets. The solution is used both as individual displays for campaigns or as permanent sales islands with several interconnected modules. Leisch: "In small spaces, the solution significantly contributes to optimal space efficiency. This means that a lot of merchandise, possibly with a high product variety, can be efficiently presented in a confined space. On large surfaces, the mobile presentation island is especially seen as an affordable, appealing alternative to traditional store fittings made of wood and metal." Regardless of the application, the mobility, light weight, easy exchange of different prints (in the case of changing promotions), and the optional expansion with a range of useful additional tools are what make the mobile presentation island a success.

Solution combines uniformity and flexibility
The strict requirements of the retail food industry for store fittings and the use of displays include more uniformity in product presentation, more space for customers (wider and free aisles), and less clutter from individual displays, the management of Pack'nlog observes. "On the other hand, a certain flexibility in product presentation and the ability to present a lot and varied merchandise on the floor is very important to customers. We also address these needs by allowing the solution to provide a uniform appearance as well as a certain amount of freedom for flexibility and individuality. Depending on the application and type of implementation, our customers report significant increases in sales," Leisch concludes.
