After the great success obtained by the innovative soilless strawberry crops available with up to three rows, Combimetal Carrera has now introduced cultivation systems for the production of various types of vegetables and aromatic herbs, raised from the ground and at a single height.
New Combimetal systems for vegetables
One of the first to purchase this system was Stefano Tabasso, a producer from Piedmont.
"I have been producing salad, basil, arugula, parsley and other leaf vegetables using equipment and methods I have developed myself for some time, and which were originally thought for strawberries too. I decided to purchase a one-hectare professional soilless system from Combimetal Carrera, made up of two parallel eaves that will be placed 80-90 cm from the ground and supported by a single central rod to optimize spaces."

"I perfected my crop techniques over the years. I can confirm the advantages obtained thanks to soilless crops, i.e. closer production cycles, higher yields per sq m and water savings especially for those who, like me, are located far from the irrigation sources, and, most of all, the possibility of maintaining a better posture during the transplant and harvesting phases."

"In addition, the crop is accessible throughout the year without having to worry whether it has been made inaccessible by the rain."
"My vegetables can only be found at the Turin fresh produce market."

Rocco Carrera, production technician for the company that develops and manufactures the soilless system, says that "what we have done for strawberries so far enabled us to become a point of reference in Italy for those looking for solutions that improve work conditions, guaranteeing an increased productivity per hectare and allowing production all year round. In addition, they are solutions that improve the place of production making it cleaner, drier and always accessible. We supply systems that are stable, safe and particularly appreciated by growers, using anti-wear sheets designed to last and resistant to the weather and the products used in agriculture. Our new system for vegetables features to eaves 15-20cm apart (depending on the crop to be planted), while the rods between the rows are installed at 1.10 m. The bases, which are essential for the rods not to sink into the ground, and the careful slope during installation to facilitate draining and avoid water stagnation are benefits we guarantee to our clients."
